The Manchester Ice & Event Centre is a
non-profit facility that grew out of the need to have a
reliable, high-quality, ice skating rink in McCall where both youth and
adults could enjoy year-round skating activities and events. The
leadership and effort of the Richard J. Sabala Foundation, influenced the
monetary contributions for the rink, which came from private individuals and businesses, a state grant
and corporate foundations. In addition, numerous community fund raising
activities and volunteers contributed their invaluable time and services to
achieve the $6.2 million objective of completing the
Manchester Ice & Event Centre on July 2, 2003.
Located in the center of town, the facility
houses a regulation NHL-sized hockey rink (85ft x 200ft of ice surface),
grandstand seating for over 650 people, ice skate rental and sharpening
services, an arcade and meals and catering by La Glace Café. This
spectacular indoor ice and event center offers significant benefits to the
community of McCall:
- Contributes to the economic health
of the community by attracting tourism
- Reaches out to any group in partnership to
further the goals of the facility
- Provides a fun and healthy community gathering
place and premier entertainment facility
- Maximizes the well-being of the
entire community by offering various programs – learn to skate, private
lessons, hockey leagues, broom ball, private parties and special ice
events.
The Manchester Ice & Event Centre was designed by
Network Architects of McCall, Idaho and was built by Scott Hedrick
Construction, Incorporated of Boise, Idaho.
